League fee is $775 per team and the umpire fee is $24 per team, per game ($48 per doubleheader). One Umpire for the regular season and two umpires for the post season. There is a $5 per team umpires travel fee if a game is called for rain at the field. All league fees must be paid in full by June 1st. Number of games played will depend on the number of teams in the league. All games are doubleheaders played with a 1 and 1 count. Playoff format will be determined when the total number of teams is finalized. Typically all teams make the playoffs or we have a play-in game. League starts the second week in April. The start time for each doubleheader is 6:15 with a 6:30 forfeit time. If a team forfeits a game, they are responsible to pay the umpires fee for both teams ($48). This forfeit fee must be paid prior to your next game. All teams are required to have a set of bases. The home team must provide the bases for the doubleheader, and the visiting team must provide a courtesy base. Each team must supply one (1) softball (Clincher F12) per game. Seven innings will constitute an official game, unless darkness or rain prevails, than five (5) innings is an official regular season game. If a playoff game is postponed while in progress, it will be resumed at the point from which it was stopped. Run rule is thirteen (13) but each team must bat a minimum of five (5) times. The run rule also applies throughout the playoffs. Each team is allowed up to two (2) extra hitters, no designated hitters are allowed. Each team is allowed up to two (2) courtesy runners, they must be announced prior to the start of the game. More courtesy runners may be allowed as long as both teams agree. League does not utilize a re-entry rule. For safety reasons, metal spikes are not permitted. League has noticed that players and managers have been very disrespectful and sometimes abusive towards umpires. The lnn League will not tolerate a lack of respect for an umpire. NY Snowflake Softball League has openings for men's teams in its six to 12-foot arc, weekday night league, starting after Labor Day. Doubleheaders are played Under-The-Lights at Whitey Ford Field, on the East River, in Astoria (26th Avenue & 2nd Street). |
